How We Can Help?VCDR works with member organizations to affect systematic change for Vermonters with disabilities through its committee structure, legislative platform, and coordinated advocacy. Please see other pages on this site for information about VCDR structure and committees, platform, priorities, and membership information.
VCDR works directly with grassroots consumers to provide advocacy training, informational sessions, and opportunities to participate in the legislative process. Any disability-related group can contact VCDR to schedule a free advocacy training or informational meeting in your area. Because our time is very limited when the legislature is in session, it is best to schedule these from June through December. However, should an urgent need arise, contact us and we will try to meet your need.
VCDR coordinates testimony from interested consumers on bills before the legislature and helps support consumers in the preparation and presentation of their testimony. If you want to testify on a bill or issue, please contact us. We will use this website throughout the session to alert citizens to bills and hot issues affecting Vermonters with disabilities that would benefit from citizen testimony. Please check back often- we need your help!
VCDR provides materials and online opportunities to facilitate citizen engagement in the policymaking process. Check out the “Advocacy Tools & Training” area of our website and keep your eye on our homepage for alerts about hot issues and convenient online opportunities to weigh in. |
